Hello all.

I'm fairly new to coin collecting after re-discovering numismatics after 40 years dormant. Since starting againI've been buying coin folders to fill. I started with the Littleton Fifty State Commemorative Quarters folder after finding it at a local bookstore. Since then,I've gotten into collecting all coins andI've been buying Littleton folders for the simple reason to keep continuity.

WhatI've discovered is that Littleton folders are not that easy to find at many shops. It appears that it's mostly Whitman. Is this something local or do Whitman folders outsell Littleton?

In my opinion, Littleton folders are more sturdy than Whitman, the coins hold better so they don't fall out so easily and I like the larger size.

If Whitman folders do indeed outsell Littleton, then why? Do some collectors prefer Whitman over Littleton?

In collecting Canadian coins I had to go with Whitman folders as Littleton doesn't have them for sale.

Ken

Difficult question. It's sort of like asking which car is better, which pen writes better, etc.
For example I'm a Whitman person and have well over 100 of their Clasic Albums. If you want to copare all the different albums for coins, you should probably get one of each and make your own decission.
Here is my opinions. Dansco is a little larger in hight and depth than either Whitman or Littleton. Dansco is a brownish color and pennies (cents) or other Copper coins do not stand out. Whitman being blue, the Copper coins are more noticable. Silver coins stand out in a Dansco more. Not many people like the color of Littleton Albums. Dansco does not allow to much room for expansion by adding pages and Whitman usually has almost to much extra room in the album covers. Blank pages for Dansco albums are really hard to find and Littleton extra pages are almost impossible to find.
Danso is in the West coast so more available in those areas. Whitman's home is in the MidWest so if your in the MidWest you'll find Whitman everywhere. Not sure where Littleton is based.
Some bookcases just barely fit a Dancso and Whitman and Littleton fit in all that I know of. Using a mixture of all these looks horible if looks is what your after. Dansco does look more impressive as a rich type book. Whitman looks like a coin book. Littleton? As to outselling one to another, again it depends on where your at. Coin dealers I know that travel tell me although so many brag about Dansco, in most areas whitman rules. Again, opinions and who knows type of stories.
To me the important thing is availability. I'm in the MidWest and can find blank album covers, blank pages, extra slides, press on letters/numbers, etc at almost any coin store or coin show for Whitman. If your slides get messed up for some reason, try buying new ones for most albums. Whitman stuff is always around here in the MidWest.
