This is a continuation from the other topic on the 1873 P Three Cent Nickel. Here is the Half Dime photos, for how I came across these is more detailed in the other topic.

I would say this one is close to a EF 40 condition too. Worth getting graded? Also I do plan to keep this one and the Three Cent and sell down the road, many many miles down the road...

I'd say AU sharpness but seem to show evidence of cleaning.

I was thinking the same thing with the darker color of the silver that it possibly had been cleaned. I have a coin guy I know well who can look at it better for me, just a haul to get there.

I agree with the previous comment by CF about cleaning. It may not detail if you graded it, but the cost may be not be worth the net value. I'm at EF45.

Something just doesn't look right to me on this one. The obverse field on the right looks tooled and so does the reverse below the word dime. But then, I am always skeptical with coins these days considering how many Chinese fakes seem to find their way into collections.

Agree, the right obverse field looks troublesome.

It was in small old jewelry box with a bunch of silver Rosie's, Washington's, Mercs, Buffalo nickels inside a big 1 gallon zip lock full of Peace and Morgan's that the old man would not come off of. He actually didn't realize his wife sold me the small silver. I'll weigh it when I get home. I pretty sure this one is legit.

It weighs 1.33 grams and here are photos from PCGS of a similar coin.

The weight seems like it is correct for a genuine example. Still that obverse field is a problem on the OP's coin, enough to detail it in my opinion. Doesn't seem fair to compare it with a totally different coin graded by PCGS though. The PCGS coin is relatively problem free and exhibits clashing and some toning and an obvious higher grade. Apples vs Oranges.

Took it to a coin dealer and he offered me 100.00 for it. I declined so it is confirmed 100% authentic.
