I am brand new to coin collecting, I figured it would be a nice quiet hobby. I am from Hamden CT. There is so much more to it than I thought so please be patient with me.

to the forum! It is a nice (usually) quiet hobby, but as you said there's a lot to learn. I've been doing this for well over 50 years, and I'm still learning all the time! This forum is a great place to start, so spend some time looking at past topics that may be of interest to you. There are experts here in pretty much any area of numismatics to answer your questions. And don't forget to pick up a couple books - the RedBook is a great start for someone just getting into the hobby. Member of SPMC, FCCB, ANA and ANS.
