HI all,

I have been collecting £2 coins for a while now and have every possible Circulated, 90% of BU and quite a few proof coins. The BU coins I have are mostly in the usual Royal Mint packaging but I have had real trouble trying to find some kind of presentation case/box that will house these packaged coins.

I have thought about removing all from their packaging and putting in capsules like I have all the Circulated ones. Would this severely affect the value of the coins long term or would it better to keep them in orginal packaging?

Thanks.

As with older manufactured diecast model cars, an example in as new condition with original box will bring much more at auction.
If the coins cannot be removed without damaging the packaging, then that is the way they should remain.

Like the OP, I find that the packaging that comes with lower value collector coins is somewhat annoying, and entirely at odds with the way I store and display the rest of my collection, which is coins in 2x2's in album pages.
Thus, I have a few silver proof coins that I have taken out of their packaging and put them in close fitting capsules, and put those into the album pages.
A problem arises if the packaging has to be destroyed if you wish the put the coins into capsules.

If the packaging can be left undamaged, I would suggest that the method of capsules in album pages may be acceptable to the OP also. The unused packaging can be stored separately so that the coins in original packaging can be sold later at a higher price.

Thank you, I think I can remove most of them without damaging the packaging so think I will go down that route and get as many as possible into capsules &
