I bought this one over the weekend, part of a small lot I got from a friend / collector I know. There is a fair amount of toning on both sides of the coin but on the reverse, there are areas along the laurel wreath that did not tone and retained the silver mint luster. I know these are photos but I have looked closely with naked eyes and 10x loupe and these are not AMD scrapes or gouges. They are original smooth surfaces, but these areas did not tone for some reason. Interesting I thought.

I tend to agree Coinfrog. It's one of those many interesting coins that I'd love to know how or why it happened. It was a part of a 10 coin lot that I got a good price on, so it's at least worth melt.
