Hey guys I have a 20 dollars banknote 1954 Devil's Face graded to 64 by PMG. A seller in the coin shop inspected this banknote and said it's worth 200 dollars because it's trimmed at the bottom. PMG didn't mention it was trimmed, and I think my 20 dollars Devil's Face is worth more than 200 dollars. What do you guys think?

Just measure your note, you will have your answer, if trimmed one end will be shorter

I notice that a lot of the 1954 banknotes are not cut well. It must be common

If you measure this note and it is correct size for a 54 series note, you have a cut out of registry kind of error note, at this grade most likely worth a few bucks but if trimmed not so.

This was likely done after the note left the printer, there is no way to prove otherwise unless you find the adjacent note from this sheet.
Instead of a $200 note you may have a $20 damaged note.

Your note does looks uneven & suspicious from the reverse. It's impossible to declare definitively from an image but it does look off (& if a dealer spotted a trimming job then it is likely the case). Measuring it would probably give you the answer (a few millimetres off?) Doesn't mean you have to sell it for the price he suggested.

PMG stopped labelling the issues with non-EPQ notes after a few years of disgruntled collector feedback. I read this on a forum somewhere. It makes perfect sense to keep collectors in the dark since there are a lot of Modified & Devil's Face notes that have been pressed, trimmed or have some other undisclosed issue.

I measured it. It's a 70mm vertical to the left and 67.50mm vertical to the right. Bank of Canada said around 69mm vertical is the correct measure for the 1954 series.

After seeing your post I took a look at some of my 1954 series notes. The uneven cutting is on 20% of my notes.

Your note is not trimmed in the proper sense of the word when it comes to banknotes. Trimmed notes are always circulated notes which have damage to the sides and this damage has been cut off to make the note look more presentable.
