Vf20. Watch the verdigris you have growing on REV. Best to get that taken care of before it gets worse

The coin is very lustrous in hand, the scans do not do it justice. IMO it's a contender for UNC/BU.

I believe verdigris is primarily a thing that happens on copper, no? I might go a little higher than VF20...thinking 25 or 30.... The reverse is particularly nice.

Given the apparent luster, it looks like the obverse was flattened by a weak strike, perhaps due to grease, which leaves it showing sort-of VF detail.

Wearwise, it's an AU, but the Obv, especially, looks blanched/faded out. Improper dipping maybe for the verdigris?

AU details It's not verdigris, it's green gunk from PVC damage. You can clean it up, likely with acetone, but heavy corrosion has already set in and ruined the coin.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning... -from PCGS website

Man, I didn't even notice it. The scans make it look worse than it looks in hand.

VF20 - AU: that's quite a spread! I confess I find the Ed VIII obverse to be a difficult one. My impression is that full strikes are relatively rare and so you're always having to make a call of wear vs weak strike. I do tend to agree that the surfaces on this guy are suspect - some PVC damage and/or a previous poorly executed dipping. For me, the AU call is all about the surfaces so I would be reluctant to go that high. Having said that, the reverse is definitely up there and that implies that the mushy obverse might be due to a poor strike rather than wear.
I'll settle at EF-45 details.

Lots of original luster and minor wear. AU-55 but "details" for corrosion starting on the reverse.
