It wouldn't have come from the mint looking this way. Post mint damage. How was it damaged? Unless you were they when it happened, we'll never know, we'd only be guessing. It doesn't really matter, damage is damage.

Ya I would have thought the same Dearborn. The obv is bulged on the fields below the chin. The only thing I can think of is it was heated enough to bulge, then someone took a hammer to it afterwards. This happened a while back to return the coin to original color.
