I have a 1936 Canadian Penny with what appears to be a faded dot below the 3. The coin has to be angled just right with lighting to see it, but there's definetely something there - maybe just a remnent of a dot if the coin is well worn? Here's also a YouTube video link where I overlay my coin with an authentic 1936 dot, and the dot's do line up. Suggestions how to verify this?

There are only 3 known 36 dots and they are all Specimen strikes.
Also your dot is slightly too far to the right..

It's as JimmyD said.
Not the 1936 dot.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

Thanks for the feedback. Jimmy D - I wonder if the owner of the third dot penny found was told "there are only 2 in existence so not likely you have one"! Please don't take that as a sarcastic comeback - I just like to always keep an open mind. Especially in the Coin World. As for the position of the dot, I did take that photo at an angle to get better lighting and visibility, so the dot orientation may not look exact. I am including now a new photo taken directly above, with a real dot penny above to compare. Pretty darn close I think.

The third one wasn't "found" all three were together when minted. There are plenty of attempted fakes out there . You have a better chance of finding a chicken with teeth , than a genuine 36 dot. In the wild

In the last 10 years there have been maybe 25 "I found one" threads that are just die chips, not "dots". You will not find one in the wild. As Oldmike says, they were stamped at one moment in time to a specific collector, so none in the wild.

The 1936 Dot are in England. From the two know I doubt if the both are legitims. In London they has 797. The rest was part of the Royal collection. Do 2 of the coins was put apart? I have no idea.

Is sure that never ever will be find one in the wild. The only possibility it is to has the pedigree of the coin with clear connection to the Royal Family and very close with the Queen, to day The King.

Recently this set which was unknown of, was kind of gifted to the BOC museum by the mint master at the time, sort of tells you all you need about the 36 dot penny
