Bought this yesterday at auction with a bunch of tokens trying to determine if it's real gold or a brass token my gut says brass token it's weight is 3.5 grams which I believe to be to light to be gold did try vinegar on it and didn't change the color of the coin any help would be appreciated. Thanks for looking

Thanks Hondo I though it was to light along with a few other things would it be considered a token or a replica

Interesting item. I'd call it a token. Never seen one like it. The earliest California gold fractionals are dated 1852. And a full weight half eagle weighs 8.3 grams.
