Okay, the results are in. Insert [drum roll].

I sent two Buffalo nickels to Dr. Wiles for attribution, both looked like DDR. The 1918 was listed as VDDR-002, 2-R-VI, Stage B, LMDS/EMDS. It has not yet been posted to the VV website.

The 1914 in this thread was listed as VDDR-001, 1-R-VI, Stage B, LMDS/LDS. It also is not posted yet but the images are above.

As for questions about Buffalo nickel DDR's, I asked him for a comment and this is what he said on the attribution sheet: "The best PUP for the BUff Reverse is the dots. Class VI will show elongated dots, just like the Lincoln Reverse. The 14 is nice. The 18 is borderline." By "borderline he means that while the reverse is a DDR, it is only barely strong enough to be worth listing on the VV website with an attribute. But as noted, the 1914 is a pretty solid DDR, so got that one right.

I checked my 1914 because it has similar clashing. It appears to have the elongated dot. I would never have thought this was a DD. Interested to see the results.
