Hello
is it normal for copper nickel coins to turn dark as a result of oxidation, it is considered as damage or patina ?
Could it be removed by conservation?
Thanks for help

Cupronickel coins can turn black in a fire, in soil, or in chlorinated water. They can turn brown in damp soil. This would all be considered "environmental damage" rather than "natural toning".
