I obtained another batch of problem Ikes and decided to try to improve them. Soaked in acetone for about a day or so then gently wiped with a cotton ball. The uncirculated ones got marginally better but the difference in the proof was dramatic. I did not get aggressive with the cotton wiping because I could not immediately see the results and was concerned that I might scratch them. 5 UNC and 1 Proof. The picture sets show, from left to right, as received in OGP, immediately after removing from OGP, and after soak/wipe. #1:

Quote: What's all blue stuff I see I have a problem with some shades of some colors so not sure what you are seeing. I presume it is oxidation or the effect of the plastics aging and affecting the metal. I used a Corelle soup bowl to soak them so unlikely it caused any additional issues.

Here's the dish - I used aluminum foil markers to keep track of the coins and covered the dish with aluminum foil while soaking.

Try some VERDI-CARE on one someday, it will be more effective for what I'm seeing than acetone.
