Still learning, I inherited what I think is around an F12/15 and (according to Saskatoon Coin Club site) is a NF2 obverse 2 dots variety.
The coin also has 180 degree die rotation. My searches came up empty. Any resource suggestions for determining variety and die rotation rarity for this year.
I'll start posting pic's once I figure that out.
Many thanks;

Yes, exactly except mine is an 1881, condition is about identical to their pic. I actually only noticed the die rotation this morning when I was comparing it to a 1862 New Brunswick 5 cent I have and noticed they were on the same axis. Should have been obvious but I'm still learning. Any help greatly appreciated,

All 1881 Newfoundland 5cents are OBV2.
All have coin alignment the same as Your New Brunswick coin.
Your coin is not any variety, just the standard issue.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

Ok good to know on the OBV2. Coins and Canada shows the New Brunswick as a reverse die axis and when I spin the coin 180 degrees the reverse is upside down. Coins and Canada show the Newfoundland as standard die axis but when I spin it 180 the reverse is also upside down.

Honestly what am I missing here.

I don't know what reference that you are looking at, but both the Newf and NB Vicky 5 cents are coinage (upside down) orientation. Whichever reference that says that it's medal, they are wrong. In case you are unfamiliar with the terms, medal orientation is up/up or like you are wearing a medal around your neck and it's rightside up regardless how it flips/turns.

I was not familiar with the technical terms for describing die axis which is why I referenced the New Brunswick coin for comparison.
I'm now more familiar with tech terms. My reference is the Coins and Canada website where they describe die axis for Newfoundland coin as two arrows pointing up.
Ok just found another site that shows the Newfoundland as a reverse die axis so I guess the Coins and Canada website needs to be corrected.
Hey, I had to ask thought I might have had something special.
I'll still post pics of both once I figure that out.
Thanks for the replies.
