The indentation on the reverse IMO, suggests someone attempted to create the look of a rotated clash on the obverse. Hopefully I am wrong, lets see what the pros think.

My thoughts exactly, what stumps me is the precision of clash above the date without any flow adjustment ( smashing) to the numerals and the flow across upper check bone. My experience is the clashing disappears on lettering, bust etc. and should normally only appear in the feilds.
