Found this in New Zealand from an estate sale where the person who passed, was married to a Chinese lady and spent a bit of time in China and Asia Pacific.
I've searched EVERYWHERE I can think of and only found 1 other post depicting a similar presentation medallion set from the same year. - I won't post an external link here, but a google search of "2004 peoples bank of China 5 coin set" will likely lead you there.
So anyway, I thought I'd share this commemorative medal to see if anyone in this forum is familiar with China shanghai wooden box sets and would know more about why I can't find anything on these lunar medals that were apparently issued by the people's bank of China.
This medal (I'll say medal as it has no denomination and the description states its a commemorative medal) is 200g 99.9% silver.
I've found it almost impossible to track down another (80mm) 200g silver medal (without denomination) in the lunar series.
It also states it's from series 8 - but that doesn't really fit right, its certainly kept me curious. I really hope I don't find out its a counterfeit or something.
