does anyone know which 2006 penny is the keeper? Is it the "p", the circle M or no mark at all? Is it magnetic or not magnetic? I keep getting different stories. I would be grateful for any info.

The 2006P does have some numismatic value as well, but not to the extent of the one mentioned by Dollar 1948

yea, the 2006P mark was only issued in a set called 'Last Day' that also contained the new M logo. Charlton is saying they only issued 750 of these sets...this seems weird to me, however they got it listed only as a MS-65, going for 15 bucks.

Well, the 2006P has been seen in limited quantities in circulation. I have two. I have heard a figure of a couple hundred thousand. I'm almost certain it's not only in the last day sets.
On a related note, why is Charlton so unclear on these? It's 2009 for crying out loud. Somebody get some accurate mintage numbers from 2006, PLEASE!

The 2006 (NO LOGO / NO P) MAGNETIC IS THE RARE ONE. -THE 2006P PENNY CAN BE FOUND IN SETS.THE EXTRAS WERE ROLLED UP,SO THE 2006P UNBROKEN ROLLS I've SEE SELL FOR AS HIGH AS $450.00.THEY SEEMED TO SETTLE DOWN AROUND $250.00 KNOW.THIS ONE HAS ROLL VALUE. -2006 ROLLS WITH A 2006 no mint mark ON ONE END AND THE 2006 MINT MARK ON THE OTHER SIDE.THESE ARE ERROR ROLLS AND SELL FOR AROUND $20 BUCKS. THESE ARE SOME OTHER COMBINATION'S OF 2006 PENNIES WITH VALUE.AS FOR THE MINT MINTAGE NUMBERS,GOOD LUCK!

There is five documented varieties 1) No P, no mint mark, Non-Magnetic: This is the most common one. About 1 billion in circulation 2) Mint Mark, Non-Magnetic: This is less common. 138 million in circulation 3) Mint Mark, Magnetic: This is less common. Total minted included in 138 million above. 4) P, Magnetic: This one is rare. Only 233,000 in circulation. I find one in every 5000 pennies I search. 5) No P, no mint mark, Magnetic: This is one is the holy grail. I am guessing that only a few hundred or few thousands exist. Haxby & Willey are better at reporting the latest mint figures than Charlton.

Thank You, this makes more sense to me now.
Chadcoins, when you say "roll value" do you mean that the pennies found and kept in rolls are more collectible than say the ones founds in sets?
I ask this because a lot of 2006 sets that have the "p" penny can be picked up at a fair discount right now and I was thinking of picking up a couple.
