both rachis are complete. separation of feather 1 and the profile is almost complete. I like to use the top of the feathers where they meet to help determine strike. in this case they are pointing to an XF or low AU coin. on the reverse look at the sharpness of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the motto. they are saying a low to mid AU coin with a weak strike. also look at the definition of the rear hock. very well defined. you can still see the tendons in it. the FIVE could be from heavy die polishing or even a grease strike through.
I'm with jessvc1 I think the coin would be XF45 even though it has several markers for an AU coin.
frog...what is VF53? typo?
