There are 1/2 Sovereigns and Sovereigns, gold, with that design for Great Britain 1902-1910. Fineness is .917

Wait a sec.. those don't say "coronation coin" on them. They have the regular legend. I'm not sure what this is... looking!

ah, I had a feeling that this wasn't truly a sovereign or gold even.

I didn't think so either, but it will be interesting to see what the final bid will be, in case someone else thinks it's a sovereign.

G'day, KE7 was crowned in 1902.
This item resembles a half-sov, in diameter and design.
Of course, the legend is "wrong", in more than one way.
It's not easy to judge from the pics on ebay, but the G&D lack the detail usually seen on gold coins, and the colour reminds me of brass.
So, I suspect, we are looking at a "gaming token" or "play money".
It would be interesting to know the weight: gold ought to weigh 3.99 grams. Brass would be significantly less.

Certainly not a coin. What has 1909 got to do with the coronation of Edward VII anyway?
