If gold prices keep getting higher, I am seeing opportunity to exchange some foreign gold coins for those of my country I collect, peças. I have several sovereigns and would like an opinion. Should let them go, knowing they risk be sent to melt? Or they have numismatic value and I should try to avoid that? These are the two worse looking. The first I already sent away. If collectors are unwilling or unable to pay a premium for them, then you have no obligation or duty to "protect" them from being melted. That being said, the Perth-minted 1910 coin should command a premium - most Australian sovereigns do, since many of them have already been melted down. 1910 has a smaller collector premium than most other Edward VII Perth-minted sovereigns, perhaps because more of them were kept as souvenirs after the king died. Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis Report this Post to the Staff
