I thought the reverse was scraped until I noticed the missing beads. Then saw beads were also missing on the obverse and the missing details of the Queen. Despite the fine striations, I do not think that the dies have been modified in any additional way; the coin itself may? have suffered from abrasion. Report this Post to the Staff

I just noticed while weighing it that the rim is very weakly struck so that may be the answer. (edit; just saw the rolling lines comment ) Here's the feeble rim.
