I have a few Buffalo nickels that are kind key/ semi key and the dates are worn kinda bad. Almost so worn that you might not be able to see them in several years down the road! My question is what should I do to preserve this heard of buffalo so they dont become extinct?
Rest in Peace

Don't do anything to your "herd" except put them in a protective holder. With no more wear they'll stay the same as they are forever & ever etc.

Wear comes from circulation and cleaning. Put them away and they'll be fine.

If you would like to truly enjoy them put them into some type of album that has the plastic slides that allow you to see both sides of the coin. As has already been pointed out, the date will not deteriorate past its current condition if the coin is not being handled. Looking at it in an album does NOT constitute handling. Filling in the missing slots in the album constitutes FUN.

Get some of those 2x2's. Then purchase those plastic sheets that hold 20 of them. Put your coins in those 2x2's, lable what they are, place in the plastic sheet and you now have your own, custom made, personal Album.
