So my wife found a 1936 Wheat penny and it is missing a chunk out of the o in God we trust it was not damaged it's just missing and I was wondering can somebody please explain this and is it an error coin?

unless it has been in your possession since minted, how can you know it was not damaged?

it appears to me( in this small image) to be a circulation hit that flattened it down to the field. Over the years of circulation it had toned out to match the rest of the coin.

Pitcher is not all that clear but if you look under the D in god I see a chunk of copper which I believe is your missing part to the "o" in god PMD
