So my wife found a 1936 Wheat penny and it is missing a chunk out of the o in God we trust it was not damaged it's just missing and I was wondering can somebody please explain this and is it an error coin?
it appears to me( in this small image) to be a circulation hit that flattened it down to the field. Over the years of circulation it had toned out to match the rest of the coin.
