I have some very nice and shiny pennies Cents that I just found that I want to keep in that condition. I would appreciate any tips you can give on handling, storage, what ever you can. I will assume that storage and environment are big considerations. If that's the case what can I do?

A very common question. There are many ways to save your coins. One of the more common ones is what is called a flip. They come in a few sizes. They are a piece of cardboard with a piece of plastic on one side and you put your coin on one side and FLIP the other side over this and either staple or tape them together. These are sold at almost any coin store or the many on line coin supply web sites.
Other methods are placing them in Albums, plastic rolls, plastic flips. Again, all are available at almost amy coin store or on line coin supply place.
Try Google for such information by typing in coin supplies.

Thanks Carl. Right now my storage is in the basement. Not much of a moisture problem but it is a basement. How about dessicant in the storage box? Would this have an efffect on the coins?

Dessicant would help prevent toning and moisture. Its not a end all solution though.

Storing in a basement depends on several things. For one if you live in an area of high humidity, moisture in the air is heavier that just air so it settles down to the basement. If in a very dry area of the country, not much of a problem. Also, this depends on if your basement has doors to the upstairs and things like cooking, washing, showers, etc all produce moisture in the air which goes down to the basement if the doors are left open.
Many on these web sties recommend those moisture absorbing gel packs
Here is what I tried living in a high humidity area. I turned off my dehumidifier and hung about 12 of those humidity gel packs around the basement. My hygrometer measured 30, then 40, then then close to 50% humidity in the basement within a few days. I turned on my electrical dehumidifier again and the humidity went back to about 25% in a few days.
I suggest you purchase a Hygrometer or any device to measure humidity in your basement. If you decide to put your coins in Albums, place each one in a Zip Lock Bag and push out as much air as possible. Loose coins could be put in those plastic rolls. 2x2's are usually pretty good but to play safe, tape up the edges.
