makkie, we were not intentionally belittling, berating, or bullying you. At least I wasn't, and I don't thing that anyone else was either. Next time, please consider posing your questions here before listing such a coin on ebay. We're here to help, not hurt. Peace.

@Makkie:
Sorry you felt bullied or belittled here. This is not the intention of the folks that post here. We all like to have a comment on a subject, whether it be for learning themselves or teaching others. We do mean well for everyone here. Some folks will post small snippets of info, to 'mark a topic so they can follow it easier in their list if they are interested in a subject or coin. And when it comes to Counterfeit coin - it is something we all need to know about and learn from.

(just my 2 cents)
take care.

I have definitely learned something here. I thought it was real, but did not look closely at it. I really see it in the hair/cap, and the size of the mint mark. I thought the date looked large due to circulation flattening, but now I see there is more going on.

Of course I would have never paid $350 for that coin even if it were real, but that is just me.

@makkie - sorry you feel that way, but I think we have all felt bullied here at one time or another. I'm just glad you only paid $5 for it!

Without a doubt, it is counterfeit. Take it into the garage, cut it in half, and see what is inside. This will be a fun education experience and will also prevent another future collector from purchasing a counterfeit coin.

Apparently ever since Makki thought he was being bullied, and stated he didn't take to it well, he has not been back.

No, I doubt makkie was embarrassed. He had five different people telling him the coin was fake when one would have sufficed. No wonder he felt bullied.

Obviously--as has already been stated--no one was trying to bully him. But writing can be a funny thing. If one's words are not chosen carefully, their tone can be misconstrued. I can see how some of the responses--and I'm not going to name names--could have seemed combative.

It's an open forum and everyone wants to contribute with their opinion. But if someone has already addressed the issue--in this case, the coin is fake--it's usually not constructive for others to pile on. To a newbie, it can definitely feel uncomfortable.
