The main reason I snipe is when I want something in the middle of the night, or if someone has a lot of stuff ending at close times (reduced combined shipping and such). I kind of wish it wasn't that way, but everyone snipes anyway, so...

A sniper is also a bidder like all the rest. If your sniping amount is not higher than the last bidder you won't win it. The winner in the end is the seller because he gets a higher bid than before the sniping.

My snipe bids tend to be quite a bit higher than the current high bid if I really want a coin, rather than trying to chip away at a high bid, simply because I know I only have one crack at it. So that can't be bad for the seller can it?

I really see no difference in sniping or sitting at the computer and waiting till the last minute to put a bid. Snipping programs just do it for you. I have been on both ends of the sniping. Buying and selling. I just bid what I am willing to pay for the item and let it be. There are many more out there. I have gotten good deals both by bidding early and by bidding at the end. I have snipped and still been outbid. Just means they wanted it more than I.
