I'm sure your iphone has a better camera than my scope. You just have to work on your lighting. Get a good light, then practice practice practice.
Between my camera scope and lamp, I have around $150 invested. Scope $110 - Lamp $40. I look at the scope as a good entry level piece of equipment.
The scope is great for taking photos and searching coins for varieties. Also great for taking extreme close-ups of varieties. I will leave a couple close-up photos below.
I just looked and now the scope is under $100 - all that I added to my scope was a 6inch extension, so I can take photos of larger coins (Morgans/ASE's) with plenty of room.
