Hi.
I am new to US Large Cent collecting. I have this 1830 coin that I have been unsuccessfully trying to identify its variety. I am hoping a member can help me. I am including pictures taken with my Samsung S21 5G phone.

There are many members here that are quite astute with identifying the Newsom number for large cents but you should post a picture of the reverse of this coin as well to help them ID the variety.

Since CarrsCoins hasn't been here for a while, I'll have to give this a try later when the reverse pic gets posted.

Whoopsie, my bad. I must have had a 63 year old brain lapse. I meant to say Newcomb numbers rather than Newsom. You may be able to do a google search for the Newcomb varieties associated with your large cent. Agreed that Carr's Coins is very well versed on this topic. Looking forward to the reverse pics.

Awaiting reverse pic for definitive answer. Without it, I'd say an EDS N-8 pre obverse die crack which is an R-1, most common for the year.
