Dime Rims Are Pretty Rough - What Causes This? New Rolls From Bank

MintPenny Valued Member United States 74 Posts	Posted 05/29/2023 1:48 pm I got a few rolls from the bank and some of the dimes had really rough edges. Does any one know what causes this and if it's an error? I tried searching this but can't come up with an answer and I know this place if great for answers. Thanks for helping me learn. That would be the die. So I think that maybe the die was damaged somehow or not carved properly. The rim on a die is incuse, so just dropping would not damage the rim all the way around. MintPenny Valued Member United States 74 Posts	Posted 05/31/2023 1:14 pm Yeah, I don't think it's damaged because it came from a new bank roll that had some smooth rimmed dimes and some with these damaged rims. Sometimes just on the obverse or reverse but sometimes on both sides. All were 2022 dimes. They are curious looking dimes because they are bright shiny and new everywhere except the beat up rims.
