Hi there

I have this unopened set and I needed advice if I should open it, and send each one individually to PGCS and perhaps sell them in auction? A 1980 MS70 dcam penny sold for like 3k for example. If you would like me to take better pics let me know ! Thank you

It is not worth it to open and send them in.

The chances of you getting 70's are just about impossible.

It would be a waste of money, because even in PF69 DCAM these Coins aren't worth the cost of grading alone.

There were 3.5 million of these produced in 1980, and you can find a complete example today in OGP like yours for less than $10.

The odds are incredibly long that you have any PR70 coins in there and - as already said - even if they all came back PR69DCAM (which they are not) they are not worth the price PCGS wants to grade them.

nice photo work.

problem is that since they are in the holder its hard to tell whats on the coin and whats on the holder. I'm not seeing anything here that says 70. I can point out on every one of these that would exclude them.

when you are talking a 70 you are talking a completely flawless coin with absoultely no marks, scuffs, rim marks, discoloration anywhere on the coin no matter how small as well as full and complete centered strike with no weakness on either side.

you're better off playing the lottery than spending $$ to crack them out and grade them.

Thank you for the comments. @panzaldi when you mean completely flawless, basically if someone even handles it with bare hands, then automatically cannot be 70 right? Thats intense

proof coins are not handled by bare hands otherwise oils from the skin would be transferred. over time these oils would either alter the surfaces or leave prints basically removing them from the higher proof grades especially a 70
