Anyone know what this coin is? I apologize for the poor quality picture but a friend sent this to me and I can't find anything on it.

Most important to understand is that it is NOT a genuine coin - it is a privately struck replica

It appears to be featuring the design of Frank Gasparro, but poor image quality makes it difficult to say for sure.

An image of the reverse might help.

agreed, I was just going to ask to see if you can get a reverse image, and maybe larger images in the process.

I thought it was a replica or souvenir coin. I'll get better pictures and resend tomorrow.

Unless someone did a very skilful hobo-nickel-job on a SBA dollar, it's a fantasy.

I think we have a winner! =)

It's pretty cool. Must have taken considerable effort.

It measures 8mm in diameter. Anyone have thoughts on the background of this 'coin'? The owner said it was given to him at a fair in the state of New York about 50 years ago.

It seems to be a take-off of this:

If you are rounding to the nearest whole number or decade, I would say about 40 years ago.
