Here is the slab, and I apologize I said it was NGC while it's actually in a PCGS holder.

In my opinion it is graded accurately. I believe, it's one of the very best Buffalo nickels I've ever seen in my many years in the hobby, both as a collector and a dealer.

We had a few close guesses even a 68+ only it's proof not a business strike, and it's a satin finish. (paralyse I agree with you on it as well), I dare say anyone would be hard pressed to find another better one anywhere. In fact I can't believe that PCGS actually lists 3 better (PR69 in their Population report)! I'd love to see those other 3 side by side with this one, oh and 9 in the same PR68+ grade? Crazy.

It's offered for sale by David Lawrence Rare Coins, they sent out a special price on it of $12,500 last week but I see now it's back to the $14,000 asking price.

P.S. I would have probably said PR67* or + as well as PR68 in early date coins are just about impossible.

The scratch in front of the 'E' still bothers me.
Perhaps PCGS missed it.

Possibly on the holder?

A pic of the reverse of the slabbed coin should help to prove where the scratch happens to be.

The original pictures do not suggest that the coin was photographed inside a holder, so I can only assume that the scratch is on the coin

The photo I posted is from inside a slab I just edited the tabs out with a tight crop.

Here you go, I can't really tell, but there are scratches on the holder from this photo.

Beautiful coin, well deserving of that grade.
