Hello Gang,

Let me start off by apologizing for the pics. This cheap ebay scope will not capture the whole coin.

This is probably the best coin from a $25 mint bag. I think it is an MS66.

- small obv scratch between IB in Liberty
- small rev scratch above ER in Quarter
- a few small rim marks

What do you think?

Too much glare. Just simple full pics of both sides, please, in a more diffused light.

scrap the scope and just use your phone if even has decent camera on it , it will be better than this. we need to see the entire coin without the light glare to assess the surfaces.

btw - just looking at the scratch between I and B and the rim hits this coin would not make 66. there appears to be other marks also on both sides. I doubt it would even make 65

try this with your phone

1. if coin is in holder, remove coin from holder if possible
2. turn off flash
3. place coin on flat surface with indirect natural light. maybe a window sill in a cloudy day. Use a black or white background to avoid any reflective color
4. move phone about 3in from coin
5. zoom in using your fingers until the coin comes into focus and fills the cameras view finder. if your phone has a portrait selection use that and then press and hold on the coin in the view finder to AF lock it
6. hold phone steady. if you cant then place something on either side of the coin (like books) at that distance and lay phone between them. this will hold it steady and allow you to zoom and take the photo without any blurring

Here's some better quality pics (just to show I can) but I don't think any of mine would grade over 65. Amazing the detail you can see without all the glare
