I need to ask one thing first, The tiny white spots on the reverse, are they on the coin or the case?

I do not see here DD's. I understand from where is come your confusion. Probably from light and also looking the coins trough the plastic will play as games. For your coin, the Proof coins because are strike twice and are on special planchet that make more difficult to see and find. Those DD's are not as the business strikes (here many confound). From your photos over the plastic is hard to see, but I will give you hints to look for: Are 8 RPM's, Wex site or VV will help you. DDO only one which is spread center and could be see well in L, R and Y DDRs are 2 A) A in quarter is split upper B) The second WDDR-002 is very fine and hard to see and detect. Only see in the hand and by an expert in quarters as TANMAN here. Me I am too far.

I have to agree with siliosi, with only one example listed for this year from S.F I will look at the "A" between the "U" and "R" in the word Quarter, and can see no split at the peak of the letter "A". with the set in hand give it a real good look with this to compare with. http://www.varietyvista.com/09b%20W...0SDDR001.htm

@ MNCOIN: That gash it is caracteristic of the 1970 quarters. This Design Variety start in 1965 and run till 1973 inclusive. In 1974 they change the ODV.

Quote: whats the little gash on the nickel bottom left of bust? Hi Mncoin, I noticed that last week. Here is a picture and and an attribution here: http://www.varietyvista.com/04b%20J...0SDDO005.htmHopefully the hyperlink came through, not sure if I am using my toolbox of hyperlinks and quoting correctly. If not it is Variety Vista 1970-S DDO-005, PR-5-O-I-CCW As for the numbers and letters doubled, it is the real deal, this coin has obverse and reverse doubling. Please see pictures below of the obverse. I'm thrilled to death about this nickel! The FS is also doubled but hard to photograph. I've see doubling on the quarter obverse and reverse, too, but haven't photographed it yet. I need daylight and it's dark now where I am. I'll try to do it over the next few days.

Please debate one coin by topic. You start with a Quarter and now jump on Nickel. You discuss about two different coins so are two different issues and two different topics.

There is horizontal doubling under the chin, it's not a reflection. The coin is out of its case. But also notice under the lips. Clear as day there is vertical doubling there, also. On the collar, there seems to be doubling in the vertical crease on the edge, too. I'll upload pictures of even better doubling on the nickel's reverse in a new post later.

Silviosi, you are right! Not sure why I thought Mncoin was taking about the nickel. I will address this tomorrow, it is late. I apologize for the confusion.
