Just a note to the newbies; don't put much "value" in the prices in either book. LOL.

I'm curious, what is in the "Mega Red" books?

The thing that attracted me is that each edition features a very informative section on a specific denomination (or denominations in the case of the 1st and 8th editions). For instance, the 1st edition had a special section on Half Cents and large cents, 2nd edition featured small cents, 3rd edition featured nickels, etc.

For each date and mintmark in the covered series, there is extra information on each individual coin. Here's an example page ( Half Dimes were covered in the 8th edition, along with 2, 3 and 20 cent pieces as well as $1, $3 and Stella gold pieces).
