If the coin was damaged, would it say something on the PCGS label? This seller has a feedback of 1, and NO RETURNS. I would be very cautious.

The 98 on the label means "Damage/Tooling". PCGS doesn't list problems like NCS or ANACS, instead they put a number code on the label to note the problem. This coin looks great but is a little out of my price range right now.

The seller is not telling you it was damaged or tooled, not good. The seller has only one feedback, not good. even if the coin looks good its not gradable, Not good. He is pushing you to buy it by posting another one on his listing Not good. If I was you save your money until you saved enough to buy a nice gradable one that has a grade from either NGC or PCGS and you also have to beware of counterfeit slabs as well, again not good don't be in a rush take your time. its a great coin to own but not at a lose.

I wouldn't risk stolen money on that seller.

Is there anything you see that suggests this is a counterfeit slab? My gut feeling is the seller either does not have the coin or it's a stolen coin and I don't plan to bid. Then again, by the time I save enough money to buy one in EF condition from PCGS/NGC, it'll cost $10K!

I really would not know for sure plus I don't think this coin is stolen because they showed the numbers of the slab which is traceable, but then again you never know what people do. There was a lot of Chinese fake 1798 and 1799 silver dollars in Pcgs fake slabs. The best advice would be not to buy this coin, It has all the ear makes of trouble. But that's just my opinion

I really, really dislike this auction because the seller is taking advantage of unfamiliarity with the PCGS "genuine" slab. Genuine just means that--a real coin, ungraded and possibly cleaned, tooled, dipped, etc. As this coin is just one rung higher than "raw", it deserves better photos too.
