I bought this coin for $60 on a whim, hoping its not fake. I felt like there was some potential, plus the high grade (all things considered). Can I get some help on determiningif this is authentic? Thanks in advance!

$60 was maybe a bit much for a common coin in just okay condition.

It is definitely real. Looks like Constantine I Sol reverse minted in Lyon.

You did probably over pay a bit but that's no big deal. Its a handsome coin.

This coin was minted at the Lugdunum Mint in Gallia which is in modern-day Lyon, France. According to http://numismatics.org/ocre/id/ric.7.lug.53, the coin was minted in 316 AD. It shows the bust of Constantine I, laureate, cuirassed, right and on the reverse it shows Sol, radiate, standing left, chlamys draped across left shoulder, raising right hand and holding globe in left hand. The PLG at the bottom of the reverse represents the Lugdunum mint mark. I have seen examples of this coin in a lesser grade sell for around $20 on ebay. I think you have a nice coin not too overpriced. Congratulations on your find!
