I have been trying to locate a copy of CG6-v1 for several weeks. The crazypants prices of $425 on Amazon haven't moved at all. Unfortunately my main interest is Jefferson nickels, which got lumped into volume 1. At this point, I have begun to despair of ever purchasing a proper new copy of CG.

Did this happen when Whitman published volume 5? Usually when a publisher sees the secondary market explode, they are quick to capitalize on the enthusiasm by issuing a second printing.

It's also baffling that they did not issue vol.6-1 on digital immediately. The only copy you can buy is 5-1 for $20. Has anyone yet published a complete listing of the attribution numbers added to 6-1? It seems superficially pointless to buy a guide that is 14 years out of date, particularly if PCGS/NGC start recognizing some of the newer numbers.

I am considering a pre-order for CG6-2 at $40. But that book only covers modern dimes and quarters, which is not particularly useful or interesting to me.

WRT digital, why would they undercut sales of the printed volumes?

I was actually working with a press company this weekend. You need a "camera ready" pdf for POD. If you are going to do real printing, the plates can run you $15,000. That's a lot of money to divide over 100 or even 500 books.

Preorder is $40. Digital is $20, with no printing, shipping, inventory overhead. That's a slam dunk.

I doubt that Whitman is selling copies of 6-1 for $400 on Amazon. If they are doing that, then they are pure capitalists and I salute their audacity. That's a 10x markup from the preorder price.

Well, I caved and bought a digital copy of 5-1 for $20. Might preorder the paper book 6-2 for $40.

So I'm reading this book, and it doesn't list hardly any of the most popular nickel varieties. I have a sinking feeling about my purchase, but I'm going to ask anyway:

Is each edition of Cherrypicker's Guide only the NEW listings for that edition? In other words, you need to own edition 1 through 6 to have a complete set of listings?
