ok thanks for checking on the edge of that. but, yes, a much longer soak may be appropriate here - long enough to possibly soften it up (if possible) When I soak I usually leave it alone for 8 hours or longer in a class jar covered with foil to prevent evaporation.
It's a damaged common date penny of negligible value, so there's no harm in experimenting. Three minutes in acetone is meaningless -- a couple of days is more likely to get you results
