Found this 50 cent coin wondering if it's a lamination of some sort or PMD, the section I circled is raised. Thanks

And I don't think it had other coins laying over it that caused this because the part I circled is raised also the marks on it don't match any coins size/shape

A stain causes the entire section on coin to be raised? That's a first for me. Never knew that stains can do that. Can you pls share a link with info about this phenomenon? I'm not saying it's not PMD but if it is I would like to know how PMD causes the part of the coin I circled in picture to be raised like that?

I would say definitely not a lamination but yes to PMD.

There appears to be two issues going on here, one being staining and the other being a raised section. Whether these issues are related, no one knows?

I would suggest trying another acetone (100%) bath but for a longer period to see if this has any affect on the raised section.

Despite not coming off in acetone, I think some kind of glue or varnish or some similar foreign substance is causing the raised area.

Whatever it is, it has protected the coin from whatever it was that caused the staining.
