A copper token that remains an oddity and was described as a "Private Mintmaster" token. Assuming the latter 1700's, based loosely upon other tokens I own.

The phrase "CURAT MAIUS ET MINUS" Google translates roughly to "Cares Greater and Lesser", so I'm assuming some standardized latin phraseology of the day that someone might recognize.

I do so enjoy collecting oddities. I realize there is little intrinsic value other than what it means to me. Thanks all.

I forgot to say I have seen similar Canadian French Jetons with the same tree, but my gut instincts is this token belongs to the British. Given the thinness and size of the coin, I assume a halfpenny token?

Nice jeton!

There is a German Wikipedia page about the mintmaster Heinrich Horst, where this jeton is also mentioned. He lived in the early 1700s.

There seems to be a problem to give a working link (the URL contains German characters ...), but the search term "heinrich horst munzmeister wikipedia" should point you there.

Very, very interesting. I only believe about 25% of what I wikipedia, but this page seems to ring true.

Notes.....
On February 2 or November 28, 1711, Heinrich Horst was appointed as the successor of Rudolph Bornemann to the office of communion mint master at the Zellerfeld mint. Active at the time of the Electorate of Brunswick-Lüneburg and described himself as the Brunswick-Lüneburg mint master.

In 1719 "he came under investigation" and was suspended from service and imprisoned for misconduct found. Released for lack of evidence.

Now here's the interesting note...

with the inscription "H. Horst. CON. GR. BR. ACUF BR. LVN. MVNTZ. MASTER." for "Royal. British also Chur and Fürstl

I wish we had an accurate resource to consult. I have a few hundred tokens I would like to learn more about.
