I attended a local coin show today (with the intention of just looking) and I couldn't resist this piece. Its hard to pass up a 397 year old hunk of silver like this. This taler depicts Johann Georg I (Elector of Saxony from 1611 - 1656) holding a sword, with August (whom I assume refers to his grandfather who was the Elector of Saxony from 1553 to 1586) on the reverse surrounded by 18 busts. I am not certain what the 18 busts represent.

Brent, excellent pickup. I know the feeling in getting your hands on such a find. How was the show attendance?

Thanks for the notes!

The show was very well attended. It is held at a local veterans hall (suburban Cincinnati) each month and I would guess that 30 dealers setup tables. Three, maybe four, of the dealers have foreign (non-US) inventory to pick through. I picked this one up from a guy by the name of Tim Hunter who has been doing the show for at least 20 years. His enthusiasm and knowledge of numismatics was one of the big reasons I became so interested in Spanish, German, and Russian coins many years ago.
