You are absolutely right! my original photo is sharper but as I resize the image gets blurry. Not going to back to see the result once I posted would have eliminated this issue. It seems to me that the time of day determines the clarity of the photo. These old eyes may also be the culprit. Many different factors are at play. mostly my screw ups. please check back later as I will try to get better photos. At work now though.

It is hard to tell what's going on there. Could be a BIE but could be a flake of delaminating metal as well. I'm leaning toward BIE but just not sure from the pics.

Try shining the light from another angle and minimizing the number of angles so as to improve the shadowing. In this case, one light from 12:00 might show the phenomenon best.
