1883 Hawiian dime -
Thinking of all the strong and resilient folks of Lahaina and all the Hawaiian Islands with this thread. Our thoughts are with you all.
(I considered posting this in the World Coin forum since Hawaii wasn't part of the US at the time this coin was minted.)
I won this dime in a lot with other items as well a couple of weeks ago before the fire and thought I'd share some images. (It looks much better in person than my images portray.)
I had a chance to look at it in person before the auction since the seller's images only included a group shot (no closeups) and it was in an older type 2x2 stapled closed. The lustre was nice with no spots or dark toning.
I took a chance it was authentic and bid to win the lot.
Please give your thoughts as to the grade. Hope my images are up to snuff.
I've added some closeups of some of the interesting features like the crown and wreath.
