Hello everyone,
I'm thrilled to be a part of this fantastic group as an active member. Over time, I've frequently stumbled upon this group's insightful posts while researching specific coins, coin errors, and die varieties. I've read numerous threads and taken advantage of the wealth of resources shared here. The discussions on various errors, particularly doubling, have been incredibly valuable in shaping my journey as a coin collector.
In my early 40s, I can still recall setting aside certain coins and bills during my childhood. Although those collected treasures are long gone, about a year ago, I began building a small silver collection. Starting with just a few rounds and bars, I unintentionally found myself with a fairly large assortment of silver, bills, numismatics, error coins, and other currency that I believed may either hold or increase in value.
My initial encounters with silver bullion and collectible coins through social media live shows sparked a broad fascination within me. It wasn't solely the potential profit from valuable numismatics that captured my interest, but the excitement of uncovering subtle variations in common currency was quite appealing as well. Finding rare minting errors or die variations or building sets of specific coins is such a satisfying endeavor.
Before I knew it, I had invested in an electronic microscopescope and a scale and started filling up coin flips, meticulously examining every coin and bill within reach. Now, after a year of collecting silver bullion, coins, and bills, I can confidently say that I've thoroughly enjoyed the entire process. This past year has been a journey of growth, learning, and incorporation of various tools and techniques into my collecting routine. As I've evolved as a collector, my collection has expanded, and my motivations for collecting have transformed. While initial attraction was tied to value and potential profit, some of my most cherished items now hold a value just slightly above face.
I eagerly anticipate learning from the experienced members of this group and sharing the upcoming stages of my collecting expedition with fellow enthusiasts who find this hobby as captivating as I do. Here's to valuable discussions, shared knowledge, and the journey ahead!
Happy Hunting!
