This coin set was authorized under Public Law 102-281 on May 13, 1992 and signed by President Bill Clinton.

Designers:
Silver dollar: John Mercanti (Obverse) and Thomas Rogers (Reverse)
Copper Half dollar: James Ferrell (obverse and reverse)

I did not know that Ferrell spent 20 years with the Franklin Mint (as stated on the COA). How 'bout them apples! My uneducated opinion of Franklin Mint products has just improved.

Mintage: 1992-S 135,702, 1992-P 385,241

This quincentenary also includes a $5 gold coin which I don't own. Minted at West Point, it was sold separately. Mintage: 79,370.

Silver dollar:

1992-Columbus-Quincentenary-Silver-Dollar-&-Copper-Half-Dollar-Proof

Half Dollar:
1992-Columbus-Quincentenary-Silver-Dollar-&-Copper-Half-Dollar-Proof

I really like the sailing ship next to the shuttle, very cool, one of my favorite commemorative dollar designs. Columbus is less admired now, not commenting further about that.
