Hey everyone, just wanted to throw out a quick hello, I'm new to the forums and to coin collecting/observing as well. I bought a microscope and have been looking through coins just as kinda a zen hobby. I came across this quarter and not really sure if there is an error or something else causing it. There appears to be a slight deformation covering part of the "U" in united states of America. Also, there appears to be a "Crack" in his saber, which tbh looks pretty awesome.

Any ideas if this stuff is post mint? Also sorry for not being able to get the full image of the coin, seems my coin microscope don't zoom out far enough :(

Thanks!

Here is a better picture of the cracked sword, was just trying to capture both anomalies in the same picture on the last picture.

To CCF! Not really seeing anything unusual. Just some circulation dings.

Pmalone,

I moved your thread for proper attention.
What make and model is your scope? Maybe members can give you some tips on taking better photos. Pics are a bit dark and color looks off a bit. I do not see any errors or a variety, looks like circulation damage to me with those photos.

Thank ya'll! I totally didnt even realize I was posting to the main modern coin forums lol.

As for the coin, I really appreciate the feedback, I like how the sword looks cracked, adds some personality to the coin! I will just set it aside and put it in a do not cash or use pile.

As for my scope I bought it from Amazon, and didn't want to go big or expensive since I'm just starting out but it's this one.

Hayve 7" LCD Digital Microscope, 1200X Magnification for Coin PCB Circuit Repair Soldering, 12MP Camera Sensor Coin Microscope#65292;32GB TF Card#65292;Wired Remote, 10 LED Light, Compatible with Windows/Mac OS

I did also notice the off color in the photo's I live in a small apartment so trying to get lighting correct is a pain ,and don't really have anywhere else to set it up, but any advice at all would be much appreciated! Even if it means chunk it in the bin and get a better one lol.

As to lighting. Try turning off all on board the scope lights and all room lights and then use a handheld LED flashlight with a paper filter over it.
