Good day everyone!

I was just wondering if the pro collectors here can verify that this is a mint error? It looks like it to me but I am nothing but a mere novice so I seek everyone's insight on this.

Thank you all very much in advance!

to the CCF!

The letters G, O and U in the motto IN GOD WE TRUST have been damaged. Something flattened the metal of the G and the O and pushed it towards the D. It looks like whatever caused this also cut into the U just below. As the coin continued to circulate the area has been worn down and smoothed.

I doesn't look like an error in this case, just Post Mint Damage. PMD

All of you are amazing! Thank you very much! I work at a credit union and I go through my coins and serial numbers during our down time. Expect more from me. Thanks again!

yep, the Motto took a nice hit while out in circulation and obliterated part of it. You can safely put it back to work.
