Would there be a faint trace of the initials vdb on the coins that had the initials removed? Surely someone in the world can help me with this question without pictures? There's no way my phone can take a picture that will show what I I can only see with a loupe, besides that I don't have the coin at the moment. My question pertains to the 1909 matte proof coin. Was there matte proof coins produced both with and without initials? Would a coin that had the initials removed still have all the die markers listed for the one with the vdb initials?

Please help! I'm sure you all know the question here means the difference in many many thousands of dollars. If pictures are required then I guess I will try to take some when I am able

If you can't provide photos your best bet is going to be taking your coin to a local coin shop where it can be evaluated.

Agreed - a visit to your LCS would be advisable if you cannot provide us with an image.
(try putting up the loupe to your phone camera and snapping an image - others have managed to get usable images that way.
