I have a question about the Eagle design on the reverse side of a Washington quarter. Is it common for the eagle to have extra feathers or is it something worth keeping an eye out for? Example follows. Second picture is also something I'm not sure about. Comments?

The feathers are totally normal. You can open the linked images and zoom it.

What's your question about the eagle's beak?

I agree. It's normal. The eagle's beak looks like it took a hit.

I see. Thanks for the response guys. I had originally thought the feathers were abnormal judging from other quarters I had on me as well as some photos online. I also thought the beak was part of the abnormality. I appreciate the clarity on this guys. The thrill of the hunt for errors never gets old and they have evaded me once again. But the hunt continues and maybe one day I shall finally share a true treasure with you all. Happy hunting!
